One Word 2020

My one word for 2020 took me a while to discover.  It started as bloom because I read my friend Laura Steinbrink’s blog post and it resonated with me. Check it out here.  I loved the idea of growing and not just growing, but exploding with growth so much that it seems as though a fireworks have gone off. That is what I think of as I watch my peonies bloom. A fireworks of color springing open to brighten the day.

Then, I saw this quote. I spent the last 6 weeks surviving.  I had the worst cold. I could not shake it. It was starting to feel like my new normal until I found that quote.  I realized I was surviving day to day and did not want that to be what my 2020 was going to be about. Next, I started searching for more about Thriving. I found this blog by Tony Robbins, “Thrive- Don’t Just Survive: 5 Steps To Be The Creator of Your Life.”  It's quick read with some powerful inspiration. Finally, the Song Thrive by Casting Crowns clinched my decision.. I did not just want to BLOOM, I want to THRIVE in 2020.
Although I discovered my #OneWord, My journey  was not over.  Heather Marrs, a friend from #OrEdChat, shared that she is going on the adventure of one word a month for 2020. This sounded like a great way to revive my one word each month, I decided that I would also adopt the one word a month adventure tied to my focus word..  The words I have chosen will hopefully lead me through my journey to THRIVE in 2020.

I plan to share a reflection each month on my blog about how my one word journey is going for 2020. Oh! And did you notice? Bloom is also worked into the concept. Let the adventure begin!
